By way of explanation as to how the ebook came about and where the
content came from, I’d like to take you back to the beginning……
I founded Intervision TV Limited (www.intervision-tv.com) in the
UK, with a partner, in 1999, enthused by the idea of video on the
Internet and with the objective of becoming a video production company
that owned its own distribution channel and could reach its audience
directly, that could make TV programmes and find the audience for
them.
So I and my company have 9 years of experience about everything
to do with video production for the Internet, everything from producing
the TV programme, to editing, to encoding it, and to streaming the
video across the Internet.
And we have learnt and adapted over the years, so that as new technologies
have come along we have incorporated them into our method of working.
For example, back in 2005 when we were filming in Dubai, we started
capturing the tapes each day via a laptop and loading them onto
a portable hard drive, so when we got back to the office we didn’t
have to digitise 20 plus tapes!!
And then a camera went down on the last day with a tape head defect,
and our resourceful technical director was able to set it up so
that the camera recorded direct to the hard drive of the laptop!!
When the idea of Internet TV stations came along, playing sequences
of video programmes (as opposed to playing single video clips) and
it was down to our skill as a programme maker to hold our audiences
attention, that was an obvious opportunity.
And so we started Holiday TV (www.holiday-tv.com), which used a
third party’s (who shall be nameless!!) software, and we launched
what has become Europe’s largest independent travel channel
on the Internet.
In our time as an operator of a successful Internet TV station,
we have worked for other Internet TV stations, as either a production
company or as a supplier of key services, and we have seen companies
and Internet TV stations come, and go.
We think we know what makes a successful Internet TV station, and
what contributes to a failure, and this ebook sums up all that experience
into 80 pages of detailed “How to” processes and approach.
It helps that we also run www.internet-tvstations.co.uk , and so
have a pretty good idea of the newest, longest lived, and best Internet
TV stations around !
